anyone changed the front side light bulbs?

not thinking nova/corsa blue/green/ mega led.

just modest white led perhaps little brighter than stock
or say amber as always liked the north american spec'ed
series 2 discovery front end.

typical having just replaced headlight bulbs one of sides failed
hence thought change for better/different.

I changed mine to led, very white, very bright light - also very low consumption should you accidentally leave your sidelights on!

I've been running LED side light bulbs for quite a few months now & in daylight the sidelights show up much better now as they are white & not the yellow colour you get with normal bulbs:augie mine have 5 LED's but once they need replacing i'll prob go for a slightly higher number of LED's per bulb. My Son replaced his & his LED bulbs have about 40 LED each & they are as bright as his headlights:eek: Know what you mean about the disco 2's having marker lights in the top of the indicators as I was one thing I liked about my disco, a single yellow/amber LED bulb could poss be added to the indicator I would think

I have the single LED CREE ones in mine, fantastic, even show with the head lights on. passed 2 MOTs with them in as well.

Replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. The LED type I fitted have about 6 clear plastic LED's front facing. Problem I've noticed is the sidelight bulb holder actually mounts pointing diagonally upwards. These are bright but majority of the light is wasted.

Has anyone else's sidelight bulb holders become brittle, assuming this is from the heat produced by filament bulbs.

What type LED would I need for my Maverick side lights?
Is there a list which give a LED equivilent, if so I could get the code from Halfords or somewhere then get the LED version, if that makes sense

The sidelights are 501 bulbs. Both of the LED bulbs posted earlier in this topic are suitable. If not happy with them just search for "LED 501 bulb" there will be a fair few to choose from

I just fitted amber LED submarine/ambient lighting to our Fiesta, thinking of doing the same thing in the Terrano
It give a nice glow to the interior of the vehicle

I've just got the CREE ones to go in the front, awaiting delivery. My offside lamp had gone, so needed replacments anyway. Looks like the battery will be coming out again to get to them, but think I need to get the banjo bolt out anyway and get rid of the filter

I did buy the CREE Headlight bulbs, but they aren't compatible with the terrano's lamp. There's a rear facing reflector inside the housing that blocks the main output. The CREE Headlight bulbs have their own lenses so I might see how they perform if I remove the internal reflector. Otherwise I guess it's onto the bay of fleas for soem nightbreakers.

strange that many of the larger quantity of leds for sides on hafords say off road or
show only yet if brighter could use as DRL, any many of the manuf fitted ones are very
bright.

Just a side note when you fit the LED bulbs check they work before fitting back into the headlight, if they don't just take the bulb out & turn it around:thumbs

any clue on how to remove side light in mk4 headlamp.

looks like most jobs on a nissan designed for a child's hand...

Same as the MK2 the bulb holder twists out IIRC N/S is dead easy as there is loads of room but the O/S is a lot tighter but I managed ok but don't have huge hands. Those with large hands or if the bulb holder is very tight you may have to move the battery

Yeah I managed it so can't be too hard. What worries me is the condition of the bulb holder being so brittle.

Think mine are starting to a little:rolleyes: These should give you a nice light & what i'll fit next time around http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-W5W-5...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19eb98e0d7 :thumbs if you want bright these are what my Son has http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-T10-W5...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item565ff97753 :lol

Just received a set of the "bright" LED bulbs - the ones with 38 leds on them. Had intended to fit them to the sidelights as I hate the yellowish colour of the normal bulbs. Problem: they won't fit through the hole in the bottom of the headlight where the bulbholder goes.

Can the headlight be split (ie take the glass off the front) so I can fit the bulbs that way?.
