Symptoms described to me over the phone as my car is on loan to a family member in France. Wont start unless bumped down hill(had new battery 6 months ago) ABS light came on, then dials flickering then EML light and loss of power. Hoping this could just be duff battery. Thoughts welcomed

battery, cables, bad earth. I suspect the positive cable is probably frayed or similar? cracked battery connectors? all this will certainly cause none starting and eml.

Bad earth is most likely, but there are many, check the big one from battery to body to engine first, after that there are around 7 or 8 smaller ones that I can think of, Rick

I replaced the entire earth cable on my terrano as it looked past it and some of the wires in the cable were starting to brake also the headlight flickered, made a good difference. No more problems. Also sounds more lively when cranking over:thumb2

I had a similar problem last year, turned out to be a cracked battery positive clamp, apparently a common problem. The original was made of lead but the new one is steel, should last forever.
