Now i've got some straps, i need to get some shackles, but not sure what to get or where abouts to put them, what have you got on yours? Show us some pics, front and rear!

For simple tow recovery most D shackles with a pin diameter of around 20 mm will be more than enough, now to the problem, simple tow means just that, take up the slack gently then apply the power, never ever snatch, this is having a slack strap and racing away with power, this seldom works and almost always breaks something which will fly through the air and do further damage, or even personal injury, recover safe and stay safe, Rick

on the front of your motor drivers side you should have a "pig tail" this is the heavy recovery point on a T2 also pulling in reverse enables you to see what is going on, on the rear you have two lighter duty tow points unless you have a tow bar which covers these in most cases, therefore use the tow bar but preferably not the tow ball, although for simple tow recovery this is ample, but not for winching or snatching the loads can be far too much, Rick

All I carry these days is a 5M long 7T strop & 2 3.25T shackles just slide the strop over the big front recovery hook on the front (later ones didn't come with it but I was lucky to find one in a breakers) for the rear there is a recovery point either side of the chassis under the back bumper & there is a big slot cut out in it for a 3.25T shackle to fit through but this is also the mounting points for a tow bar & as i've now fitted one the strop just go's over the large centre cross bar of the tow bar & secured with a shackle as it's much safer than using the tow ball:thumb2
