Hi any seven seater owners out there? Last week I put my terrano in for its MOT, the two rear seats were not in the vehicle as I do not use them. The T2 failed the test 1, rear suspension corroded, ( I have a post on this titled "oh dear, failed" ) 2,nearside inner seat belt missing
3, offside inner seat belt missing. Now the inner seat belts are part of the removable seats so this would mean that seven seater's sent for MOT with only five seats would fail, BUT I have looked on the MOT testers site on the net and it says " where seats are missing the belts are ignored" ?? This would seem sensible because a lot of vehicles have removable seats. I was also told that seven seater's dont have emission tests! Yes I know what some of you are thinking because you told me when I had my test a couple of test ago and I was told the same thing at another mot station. Anyway, anyone else had their seven seater knocked for only having five seats? regards bri

nope, mine were folded up, and still folded when i got it back. so i dont think they even looked at them.

Hi Mr zip,They wasn't folded they were in my garage..... easy enough to put them back, but what if I didn't have any?

Nope my T2 passed with out the 6th & 7th seat and the belts were still in place (Not even an advisory about them)

Some people don't even have the third row of seats, can't blame them as they are only really suitable for small kids. Mine were folded up and dog cage in the back and it still passed.

I think some MOT testers make up there own rules, or they dont keep up to date with the test.

Hi, I couldn't find the bit about emission on the net, just the seat belts, I was told by the mechanic who took the t2 to the testing station for me, but two years ago I took it to another station and watched the test but never saw them do the test when I remarked on it a mechanic said they dont test seven seater's, they come in a different class to five seater's? seems odd to me and i can not find any conformation on the MOT testers site.

I've had my Mav from nearly new and testers have always done emissions test except last year when I took it to a different garage.

Also he didn't test the brakes on the rolling road but tested outside with a box in the car.

Thought he was just doing me a favour ;o)

My Landrover has 7 seats.....I wonder

have a look on this site

http://www.ukmot.com/3-4.asp

my 7 seater was tested ok without rear seats, and the emmissions was checked as well, some of these testers dont know what there doing half the time, some cant even write properly so how they can check a car beats me how they pass the test. :nenau

Have found a mot testers forum ( sad I know) and have posted a question about emissions and 7 seats . Will post answers when I get some.

Had MOT done on mine 2 mths ago...emission definitely YES, as for the seats...I doubt it, had them removed with the back fully packed up with everything (no access to the seat belts at all).

Had mine tested minus 3rd row i now have a 5 seater according to test cert, suits me i live alone

I had the welding done as required put the seats back ... and it passed! so pleased it passed I did'nt argue the toss about the seats. regards bri

im sure you have to have 4 roller set up to test land rover brakes, thats why they use a portable meter, but not for nissans because you have to engage the front axle, if you get my drift. :doh

brakes

you are spot on Tezza

LR are permanent 4x4 and do need a 4 roller set up.

maybe the MOT tester assumed that the T2 was the same
