I have had someone get in touch with me regarding service packs and asked me if we would be interested in offering these packs to our members.

These are all genuine boxed Nissan parts with a 30% discount off manufacturers retail price.

These packs can be found cheaper, but how good are these parts that are not Nissan? and may it be worth that little extra to get genuine boxed Nissan parts.

He would also be happy to extend the discount to trade levels on all Nissan parts to club members, the actual amount of discount would vary according to product group, but if our members wanted to get in touch with their requirements we would be happy to make a quote for them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have listed below the prices of the service kits.

Terrano 2.7Ti 96-2000
oil filter, air filter and Fuel filter £43.69 inc. vat saving £18.72 off manufacturers rrp.

Terrano 2.7T 93-96
oil filter, air filter and fuel filter £38.69 inc.vat saving £16.59 off manufacturers rrp.

He would charge carriage at cost.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think?

Please can we have some feedback on this, as this to me is a genuine offer from a person that to me is putting himself out to help our members.

Regards,

Mav.

Can you ask him about petrol models too please?

Unfortunately Dixons Nissan in Worksop just went bust or I'd have asked them for prices as I was supplying them for the grand total of a month before RBS put them into administration.

Thanks for the reply Hummingbird.

I have e-mailed him and asked the question.

Would the deal suit you as you have showed concern in this subject?.

Mav.

If the price is right I'd be interested for my truck but don't have the expensive fuel filter of the diesel so might not be that much of a saving, will see.

I guess there is no comparison to the set offered by Milner off road at £10 + VAT for air, oil and fuel.
Just how good are the Milner set, I was going up there this morning so thought I would drop in.
Not used this set before though.. any advice A  SAP please

Hello again Hummingbird,

Yes,
He can do 30% of a service pack for the petrol as well.
Oil filter, air filter and fuel filter for £22.10 inc vat plus carriage at cost.

Mav.

Not for me then I'm afraid I'd want the long life Platinum Spark plugs too for that sort of price. Fuel filters not a lot of use to me though, I only use about 50l of petrol a year.

The air filter is same as Impreza 2.0l sport and quality replacements are easy to get and cheap, the oil filters even Nissan ones are only a few quid on ebay, same as the 2.7.

Sounds good to me

Is this going to be a permanent thing or has the guy got a cheap job lot he is trying to offload at a huge profit :!:

£20 off the TDI kit sounds better, nice round number

Hello Gego,

As many as you want when you want them.

Mav.

Before everyone dives in feet first, give me a couple of days to see what I can put together through my trade contacts.

Decided not to go to Milner this morning, having read previous threads on poor quality filters, some even from Milner.
I'll be interested with what Humingbird can offer to the club.
My immediate requirement is the fuel filter, then I'll tackle the mini filter.

Sorry this kit for me would be far to dear as i have the K&N filter fitted so would he just sell fuel and oil filter on ther own and what about pollen filters?

Hi Mav

Can you just purchase fuel & oil filters as I've got K&N air filter?

Just what i saw quoted, i got my genuine one from ebay. as is the way with ebay things come and go keep looking.

Just thought I would get a fuel filter from a local factors....
BIG MISTAKE....
here's why,
I removed the old filter no probs fitted the new and primed etc
Started her up... clouds of grey smoke and cutting out... re primed again.... same problem. :( :(
Solution get a Nissan filter fitted it started first time Great no smoke. -dance-
This is what the problem is.
The o ring seal at the top of the filter is really a 1/2 o ring seal, it was semi-circular in section, and what happened was that the seal must have popped out and let air into the system. I compared it to the Nissan seal and this is a larger seal over a wider area and it is held in place by a crimped ring in the centre. Nissan must know something.. -wor-
I think Hummingbird suggested filling the new filter with fuel, this I did to virtually brim full, with care you don't spill any, slacken the 2 bolts at the top of the fuel filter allows a strap wrench in. Tighten so that the seal engages then 2/3 turn more.
On my mav (mk1 1995) the primer bulb does not have an air bleed valve, and there was never one fitted. Priming was easy and on the second attempt I did notice the primer getting firmer. This I didn't notice on the cheap filter, as this was the first time I did this and I wasn't aware, so if this is the case then the seal is leaking. So be aware..
I also relieved the pressure (vacuum) in the fuel tank, by releasing the filler cap to save the primer from working too hard.
The next fuel filter will be a Nissan one.
Looking at the old filter there was no gunge in there, a few specs, no water. At one point... I wish I had left well alone.
I hope this helps someone in a similar situation..

Incidentally, how often should the filter be changed? mine was about 3-4 years.. Too long I thought but only 20k miles

From a relieved Rustic..

Rustic I don't know if this helps, but when I worked for Rover (thats why I got a T2 not a LR) we used to change fuel filters every 12000 mile or 1 year which ever was sooner. I will be replacing my fuel filter in October by which time i'll have had the T2 a year & will have done about 10K
