Sensitive Alarm

The wind during the night set my alarm off 4 times last night

Is there any way I can adjust the sensitivity?

My old Trooper was the same turned out to be the bonnet switch adjusted it up a bit and problem disappeared.

I think the internal sensors are air pressure sensitive and mine tend to go off if I leave a window open slighteley and in gets windy

I've had that before but they were def shut last night, it's so sensitive, I had the trailer on a few nights ago and I jumped into it to drag a cabinet in and off it went.

It's like a yampy dog when it gets a sniff of the post man

I'm not sure if the Terrano is the same, long time since I had one, but with the Patrol you can narrow it down to either door / bonnet switches or interior sensors by locking it with the key instead of the remote. This sets the door and bonnet switches but leaves the interior motion sensors off. I always do this if strong winds are forecast. I don't know why, it is not meant to, but the car rocking does seem to set these off. You only have to go past an airport car park to see the evidence.

If it still goes off, the bonnet one is the most likely, as if the door sensors are borderline, you see the door warning light and interior light flash as you corner or go over a bump.

If it is the interior ones and no movement of the car, I have usually tracked it down to spiders setting up home inside the car and making webs near the sensors. :doh

Also check your dash vents are closed, if the select lever is set to bring air in from outside as opposed to recirculate this can set off the alarm when it's windy.

Easy way to isolate the interior sensors is to rock the little switch on the dashbaord before locking it. Basically only thing alarmed is the door switches.

My alarm is sensitive as well as it went off again last night. It often goes off when its windy or I'm loading the trailer. Went out and turned off the internal sensors and it was quiet for the rest of the night.

My alarm (horn) is behind the driver's side rear panel near the back door.

It's not a Siren on the T2, it's just a normal Horn, located inside the Rear O/S wing, just by the Filler Cap.

How does that work then?

Ignition off, use the switch, get out a remote lock?

Or use the switch before you turn ignition off?

Ignition off first, then press the rocker switch. You'll see the alarm led start blinking really fast, then lock the doors with the fob.
