heyup chaps,

I am going to MOT my truck in a week, then I am selling up.

Life's changed somewhat, so I don't have a need for the Terrano any more.

I will be posting photos and info soon, but its a good work horse, with plenty of dings n dents to show for it. I will be looking for £1k, its an 03 plate machine, on I think 113k miles or so and is generally my daily driver so everything is functioning normally apart from the Air Con.

Any interest, please let me know and I will forward any details you require. I doubt I will be eBaying this one, I have a few interested chaps at work but its always worth mentioning to the chaps on the club.

cheers

Not good news mate, hope it is not bad news, hope you stay around as we will miss you, regards, Rick

Well don't make any decision too quick! Hopefully you'll stay on here

That's very cheap for an 03 plate with 113k :nenau

Again, have a good think before you part with it, what will be in its place? Will it be reliable? Will you be able to fix it? :nenau

:thumb2

cheers guys, yeah I will be hanging around, especially as things get back to some level of normal, but the Terrano has drawn the short straw. I simply need the money, nothing wrong with the car and I will miss it, but I need to downsize anyway.

Yeah it is cheap, but that's what I am like when I come to sell stuff, I am a terrible sales man! To be fair though, I am taking into account that the nearside rear door is dented, as is the associated arch - all easy fixes I just haven't got round to it. Also the rear door is dented though its hard to tell - I reversed into a car park pillar and the spare wheel got pushed in - if you look carefully, you can tell its at an angel now on the door..!

other than that, its just the workhorse that I use it for, but it drives great have no issues. I figure if I MOT it, get anything done it needs, and get my money back through selling it then I will be happy. One thing I cant have is it sat on the drive being unused, I just cant have that, which is partly why I want it sold!

Blimey, if you do want to keep the Terrano in the long run, could someone not buy it off you, and the money to be returned afterwards? bit of weird thinking I know... :nenau

nah, that's too much fuss, besides, I need the money anyway plus I will be downsizing to a smaller 4x4 eventually..

come on, spill the beans :naughty

Rav 4? :augie (actually very good motors)

Jimny? :augie :augie :augie

Fiat panda? :hide:

well, I have a short list of potentials.

First up, I like the Fiat Sedici (Suzuki SX4). Underrated car, much like my Fiat Stilo. What I get with that is a basic 4x4 system, slightly higher position when compared to a normal road car and a decent amount of storage for a car that size. Cheap ish to run (though tax seems a bit high) and more importantly good MPG.

Second, Dacia Duster, but that's unlikely as I cant really afford a new car just yet, but again, as above, decent mpg, decent boot space etc

Third, Nissan XTrail - unlikely, but tempting, MPG not as good as the above two cars, but much better than my Terrano.

Fourth, fancied a Fiat 500x, until I saw the price of the 4x4 version...£25k!

so yeah, not much of a plan as yet, the Fiat is first place as its cheap, plenty around and fairly simple which covers my needs. Ideally, i'd have a Duster, ticks all the boxes for me, but i'd need £250 a month for the model I want, and id rather buy outright...

What about Fiat Panda 4x4 ?

My mate has one of these and he loves it - uses it every winter in summer he drives his Merc E350 Coupe.

I thought the Panda 4x4 had tie in with Steyr-Puch or some such German company that produced the Haflinger, so a good system......but perhaps I'm way out of date......probably......anyway I quite like the Panda 4x4, as long as you live with the limitation...a Terry or Trol it ain't.....:nenau

this is my thinking, these days I need a proper 4x4 less and less, but I do want some form of 4 wheel drive because like everyone else, when it snows up here, I REALLY benefit from being able to get about.

So generally, any basic 4 wheel drive will be ok though I will miss the Terrano ground clearance.

The whole 4x4 for winter is a funny thing, Do you really need it?

I love 4x4s but a car with proper snow tyres still fuctions perfectly for the few days we actually get snow and if it's any heavier just stay at home.

If you were in scotland It may be a bit different.

very true Fez, but I suppose for me its having that extra traction that a 2wd wont give - I live up some pretty big hills that become inaccessible during winter, without a 4x4.

Clivvy. If you need the money you keep the good runner you've got, not spend on another. I go through a phase like this every year about mot time but it all changes when there's a fresh ticket in your hand. David.

true, but I need the money now, and wont be spending on another until much later this year, or next...:thumbs

I'd agree with this.
I'm not sure what the rules are in the UK, but I'm a big fan of chains too.

The other thing I learnt with a 4x4 in snow is that it's only as good as the worst car/driver that's out there. When they stuff it up and block the road, you're as knackered as them.

I'm thinking of taking my terrano off the road when mot runs out in the new year and putting the terios on the road for a bit while I do some work on it.
Not selling it unless someone offered me a good price.
