Second alternator

I have fitted an aircon compressor mount, can't seem to find an alternator to fit, the mountings are too far from the drive belt line.

Has anyone done this?
Will I need to make up a bracket to move the alternator nearer the drive belt? Forward that is.

Think you'll have to make up your own mount I know on the TDI's the AC pump is driven by a flat ribbed belt & not the V belt like the alternator if this is the case I would prob go for an alternator with a pulley the same to make things easier:augie do you really need an extra alternator ? just my old T2 coped fine running the motor plus 6 spotlights, cb & a large sound system ok

My t2 2002 is a v belt on the Aircon if this is any help. as trying to find another one as mine is goosed

The pulley on the crankshaft has three grooves all the same, just like Ricks
I have a second battery to drive my dash cams, I have 4, also my side view cams to aid parking, plus I want to run a fridge and inverter when I am parked.
Fabrication of a bracket to fix to the aircon mount should not be too difficult, I just don't see the point of inventing a new wheel when it has already been done.

Compressor with both the pipe fittings on back of pump as some have one half way down and not sure that would fit

Please don't take this as I'm just cashing in this thread as a pic of my Aircon pump may help with altinator question but this is mine on a 2002 tdi 2.7

Ah no mine do not look like that, how is the larger return pipe fitted, is it part of the pump to the first joint or does it come off somehow? do not know if the pulley assembly is interchangeable? but worth a check, I have one in bits somewhere, Rick

Pm sent it unbolts from compressor same as smaller one
