Hi Guys thanks for the instant replies, The thread by Badger regarding spring and ball bearing , where abouts is this banjo? The only banjo's I can see on my pump are the one at front where mini filter is or isnt, and one at back that goes to injector and return pipe to tank!! The one at back is this one

This looks like some sort of valve possibly but it has a flat screw on top will this be some kind of setting screw as if i undo it and disturb setting how would i find it again?

Makeitfit I have driven truck just not very far and auto box seems fine just had to left foot brake to keep running, but now isnt starting at all!

Right have removed valve from back of pump and this is what I have found, spring seems weak but then again dont know what its supposed to feel ike!

Gotta try and get one now and hope this solves my problem, bearing is very worn and has a ridge all the way round, maybe im just hoping too much. :nenau

If this valve is worn it will pass to much fuel back on the return to the tank.
This results in the internal fuel pressure within the IP being to low. The IP uses the fuel pressure within the pump to operate the control sleeve; which wont happen if the pressure is to low.
You can try putting a clamp on the return fuel line to create a restriction on the return flow, this should prove the valve is at fault.
Don't block it completely though!

Also just noticed this one when ignition is turn on hissing from pump! is that normal?

There is a small 5" long right angle hose on the front of the turbo, it controlles the waste gate, ..... is it perished?

just read your other threads Rich, and you have tried lots of things. Im not 100% convinced the Code 18 is "real", i had that code before I replaced my number 1 injector and CKP, then it went away and never came back.

anyway, it may be worth seeing if someone can help you out here, and let you try their CKP, to see if it makes a difference, as its a whole shed load of money to spend only to find its not the issue. I do have two spares, but Im fairly sure they were on their way out.

Have you changed your battery yet? have you checked earth straps and starter cable? Make sure the earth straps arent corroded underneath-one thing i have found with these cars is they are very sensitive electrically (at least mine is). Also, as in my PM, consider your pedal and ignition switch, just keep them in mind when diagnosing.

have you managed ot get th ecar hooked up to ECU scan yet? I ofund in valuable, and even if you car doesnt start, it shoudl still give you some readings for the various electrical componants involved in starting the car-i monitored these when i had issues and it helped me loads.

Hi Clivvy just pm'd you again. Just had new starter and checked earths and new battery / starter connectors. Battery was checked by 2 different people an auto sparky and motor factors, both said it was 100% so didnt change it. Not had it scanned yet as nobody had connector lead to fit but I have got one now off ebay. Do you not think trying one of your spare sensors is worth a shot?

ill certainly send you them both down-certainly worth trying....pm me your address and ill stick them in a jiffy. Just dont expect them to work 100% because they were failing. they did however work in terms of starting, idling etc and even running, just when it gets hot, it fails, and you get random stalling, so expect that at least :thumbs

sent a PM, really sorry, I cant find my CKP's anywhere, I can only assume I have binned them?! :9 stupid arse.

Does anybody have a working 2nd hand CKP sensor that I could try to see if it will bring my terrano to life before I have to pay £230 for a new one? If anybody does it's the one that mounts at the front of the engine between alternator belt and there is a picture on page 2 of this thread! Obviuosly I will return as soon as I know if this is what my truck needs.
Heres Hoping Rich..

im sure cnc fabs or terrano breaker will have one , whether they will " lend " it to you is another matter though

I already asked cncfabs but he doesnt have one in, I was going to try CLIVVYS but he cant find his, obviously if its working I will pay the going rate whatever it may be but Clivvy had 2 that I could have tried just to get mine fired up!! I will try terrano breaker via PM!!
Cheers Rich..

Well it wasn't the return valve on pump, received new one today no change, still no start or fuel at injectors!! Never ever though i'd have sleepess nights over a car!! :nenau

whats the nats system red led light doing as if it thinks its being nicked it wont allow any fuel to flow

Geoff, will check NATS light tomorrow but should have key fob by then aswell to turn alarm off properly as currently alarm goes off everytime I open it and doesnt go off till key in ignition, wasnt doing this before though as it was starting ok!! What should NATS light be doing?
Cheers Rich..

Ok new key fob arrived today programmed it and now alarm dont go off when I open terrano at least some progress there!! But it wasnt the immobiliser causing no fuel to injectors as still the same. Just out of interest I am a bit suspicious of my crank sensor for these reasons at plug end there is black heatshrink and it does feel like there is a join inside so has it been cobbled together at some point? Also tested it again today across pins 1 and 2 as per manual and it still reads 1440 ohms, just wondering if this reading and the joint on plug is normal as it does sit in a fairly warm area so maybe extra protection? Another half day with no flipping result! :nenau
Pic of said crank sensor and join
Cheers Rich..
