We went into the Peak District for a days laning yesterday. Just 4 vehicles, a Disco, 110, Vitara and my Terra.

Fantastic icy day as the pics show and extremely pleased with how the Terra went up Roych Clough first time. Only damage a broken Headlamp on the Roych as you see in the video.

We went into Pindale to be met by Park Wardens and Police with whom we had a very friendly chat. They were there on an ice cold day trying to educate individuals about responsible use of the byways. A good initiative:clap

They were handing out this leaflet http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/stay-right-track.pdf

Heres the vid and pics http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=G7poTex5SeI

hi

excellent video, like the other lads enjoyed watching it. i just want to go out now. most of the lanes in the lakes are all south lakes and i am north. will have to take a trip out for the day and try some.

Ifya bendit ya mendit

Brill vid & pics.
You learn something everyday. Bend it ? mend it. Simple but effective. Like it.

interesting you should meet officials in pindale considering there are so many
'alternative' routes along the track.

is this what they were looking for, reading the leaflet and going off route etc.

guess ing there is a definitve route thru pindale, would the detours equate
to illegal use. note last time over houndkirk there was evidence of off-pist
driving, discussed also on difflock.

:surrenderI know this is nothing to do with 4x4s but as a horse rider as well as a 4x4 owner :doh
Out the other day driving a pony and trap the pony was spooked by a walkers who just pop out of a hedge!!! Pony and I went off the track into a field newly sown with wheat:eek::eek::eek: caused a mess farmer mad :eek:

But...... the walkers caused the problem poping out of the hedge you could have killed them in a 4x4:eek::surrender

Its the first time I've been to Pindale but according to MM there is only 1 route with vehicular rights shown on the map as an ORPA.
All the other 'routes' are actually used illegally by mc's 4x4 etc and the owner of Pindale quarry has recently started getting tough on those using the site illegally.

pindale is a good enough route without the need to deviate away and start tearing up private land in my opinion.
there are plenty of pay and play sites that cater for extreme 4x4 driving.
dcc are looking for reasons to tro lanes and this will give them the ammo they need!!!

great vids nath.roych clough looks good fun.another lane i have only been a passenger on.

I've only done Rouch once before that was about 11pm going down it.
Really wanted to get back there to see the views in the daylight and to drive up it.:thumb2
All went well except for breaking the headlamp glass. On the vid you can see that the towing hook hits the rock and the weakest point must have een the glass which the impact travelled up to.

after jet washing mine i found that i have snapped the rear arb mounting off the diff.
as good an excuse as any to take it off completly now.:lol

Hi,

where is the rocky steep climb about 20 pictures in.
the track is quite a trough, imagine would be interesting

route along side looking at the latrer pictures towards the
top of it.

To do Roych down hill start @ SK 091 824

To do it uphill start @ SK 059 836

Well worth doing:thumb2

There aren't really any passing places except by the little ford about 1/2 way along.

To get the 110 up required just a bit more throttle but the Vitara was only running on 3 cylinders and needed a new driver.

Where my bro's Disco (£1000's spent on it) climbed and rolled its way up my Terrano bounced a lot more due to the lack of suspension travel. Still it is standard apart from the tyres and cut down bumper.
