Found some rust on the rear X member, not looking good, gonna have drop the fuel tank to see it proper, rear bumper off already, thinking it may not go back as it is shit, got chunk RSJ in the yard so maybe looking to make a rear crash bar from that so be able to reverse into trees and the tree coming off off worse, :augie:augie:thumb2:thumb2, Rick

Have you ever considered fitting a rear winch Rick or have you never had the need?

Yes already got a winch for it but to be honest might not bother, my last SWB T2 had one but only used it a couple of times, more important is a solid rear bumper as sliding back down hill into trees, something non bendable is an advantage, does not happen at Slindon but Piccadilly wood is another matter, Rick

That bumper looks good. :thumb2

Rear bumper on my Patrol is also shot to pieces. Will have to build something new after the MOT next month.

Thanks, the first SS covering was just on the face and pop riveted on but soon found to my cost that Slindon mud soon ripped the bottom off, this one is thicker 18g I think and folded over the I beam webs so should stay on better, the rot I have found on the rear is quite bad, not seen it before as always full of mud, so looking at possibly putting an RSJ on there as well, pics tomorrow once I have sand blasted it to show the full picture, Rick

That is the problem with the design of the Patrol. A lot of areas where mud can heap up and accelerate the rotting process.

Out of interest, an RSJ as a rear bumper is that seen as a modification by the insurance company?

I am considering making a new rear bumper including LED rear lights or I might replace the rotten metal and keep the rest. Depends a little bit on how the insurance company views a new bumper.

Bottom of NSR chassis rail, sorry cannot load pic, says 1.1internal server error 43531, Banshee where are you? Rick

Insurance never said anything about the front one, as a winch mounting, but guess it will vary between companies, Rick

OK rear rail

Did not get much done today, called out, not easy in the Mrs motor with limited tools, then my 9inch angle grinder threw a wobbly half way through cutting the I beam, then the compressor ran out of juice at last knockings, anyway this is the top of the tank ready for paint, need to sort the weep from the rear flange, thinking I will cut it off just outside the weld seam, then re weld the seam and stitch the flange back on or maybe make a new flange, will see when I get it off
