While away noticed a little bit of rust near the front body mounts, knowing this is an issue with Patrols, decided that as we are back early as did not get to Wales, that now is the time to sort it, so here we go winch bumper off and front grill, and was pleasantly surprised to find it is only on the wheel side of the job, this is what I found on both sides

This is more serious, a plate sits on top and it fills with mud that stays wet, the amount of expanded rust I chipped out was alarming, so gonna be beefing that up tomorrow

Went back tonight to slap some paint on the outside of the wing as sand blasted steel in damp evenings flash rusts so quickly, so not looking like a bad wing now compared to how it was after arguments wit trees plus some damage to the top front that was there when I bought it

Another view, do not know if I will ever be bothered to fill flat and spray, but will do something with the arch to stiffen it up sometime, Rick

Sand blasting makes it so much easier to get all the paint and crap out of the way for welding :thumb2
What blasting equipment are you using?
I've got a little suction fed gun that just about runs ok on my 50 ltr compressor.
Got use of a hodge clemco hopper type unit but takes some serious cfm to run that.
