Spent the day out yesterday with my chums at the Discovery Owners Club, exploring the lanes and tracks of Salisbury Plain. Managed alot of the route in 2WD only, and didn't get stuck once ! :thumb2 There was one very heavily rutted section where the Mav was "bellying out" and the rear wheels were starting to struggle. I had to give in and select 4WD :D. The Kumho KL71 tyres were excellent. I had a couple of minor mechanical issues, firstly in a long water run, the Mav stalled, but when the water had settled, she fired up and drove out with no worries. On the run home, the engine coughed a few times. This was a mucky air filter which was binned, problem solved. Nearly all of the DOC lads said how well the Mav did. :thumbs

Good pics! So Zippy/Lee, whats the form with Salisbury Plain...how accesible is it - can you just turn up and are there places you need to avoid so you don't get shot or blown up?

Sorry Zippy, I was out with The Discovery Owners Club. I'm the LSR for the Devon and Cornwall Section. I always used to run Disco's, until this Maverick came up. I'm still in the club, as they're a cracking bunch of lads and lasses.

Hello lacroupade, I didn't organise this run, but the route was studied from large scale OS maps, and RoW checked with Wiltshire Council. We did come across 2 lanes that were closed, and part of Salisbury Plain was closed due to "firing". I'm not sure how this was found out, probably from the Council.
