Run about 30% svo in my 1993 t2, no problems so far but had a bit of trouble starting these last two mornings when it's been noticeably colder.

Try leaving it a few more seconds after the glowplug light goes out before you turn the key fully to the 'start' position.

i turn on. let the light out, then turn OFF and back on..

do it two or tree times..

oh running about 85% svo at the mo

surely that just lets the plugs go cold again? the point of leaving it a few more seconds after the light goes out is that they get a tad hotter and helps starting easier. I'd be easing off that 85% ratio this time of year though Zip - 50% is more than enough.

my plug light stays on for about 10 seconds as it is, should only be 6 standard. Haven't tested the voltage across the bar yet but I'll bet it drops right off after the light goes out. The filter heater doesn't seem to be doing anything either, never gets noticeably hot, and the fuel line to the pump never feels at all hot either. Gonna "lag" the fuel lines somehow to see if that helps.

yep, heading that way soon..

also working on the heat exchanger and looking into pre heaters as well..

On the glow plug topic (as i'm still learning with diesels) can you get different heat setting plugs i.e. say ours get to 50 degrees can we get 75 degrees 1's or am i being well dense  :doh :augie

When i start breaking the Terrano's & Mavericks i'm gonna have a tinker with the fuel filter housing heater :thumbs

im guessing now,

but the fact they glow red. id be expecting 3-400 degrees . and to be honest at that heat they wont need uprating.

its more to do with the time they stay glowing that makes any difference

Ah right  :augie :lol Thats hot :lol

Could you alter the time they stayed on or would they get to hot & shatter

Was in asda today they selling 6ltrs veg oil for 5 squid works out at 83p a ltr :D

Not bad :thumbs

Thick question

Which is the thickest out of Sun Flower Oil & Straight Vegetable Oil & which 1 burns the hottest.?

Straight Vegetable Oil thickest.. at normal room temp.

sunflower is thinest at normal room temp

BUT when cold.. the both get thicker.. add diesel to thin or petrol at 5% MAX
