apart from plating / undersealing and filling with waxoyl any other things I should look for ??

Ouch that's a bad case of the old tin worm. Mine are bubbling quite badly at the back of the sills. My rear seat belt mountings also needed plating in the rear wheel arch for it's last MOT.

Thats the back drivers side , trouble is there was so much underseal / shultz stuff holding it all together that when i started to tap it all got bigger and bigger.

More worringly because the rust was behind the plastic coating that covers the sill by the time it was bubbling the metal was gone already (passed mot 9 months ago and you cant tell me its gone that bad that quick)

suggest you look closer at yours ?

Yes I'm going to check mine but not until the better weather comes and probably get them plated. As far as I'm aware there are no repair panels and other than buying new sills from Nissan at some stupid price the only fix is to cut and plate. Other than getting them plated I don't think it's too much to worry about just check your rear belt mountings as they will probably be about ready for plating too. Loads of club members have had to have these repaired so we are not alone.

Its going in to be ''quick fix'' plated next friday although I might have it redone at a later date with a proper rust cut out and ''invisible'' welding / grinding fix

It also needs nylon bushes fitting + the water pump is leaking + rear wheel cylinders leaking + rusty brake pipes so have a feeling its going to spend time in various garages over the comming months.

As all I have had done to it in the last 2 years is a fan belt and a new screen its kinda due a bit of love TBH.

Have a look in HERE

Theres various pics from my old mav of where it was rusty and also some of the repairs.

Seat belt mounts as mentioned - shown plated.

Boot floor area too.

Scroll down for the holes in the cill after I'd had a go at it with a twist know brush in the grinder.

Huge Sill holes , almost worthy of the ''click abuse button'' :)

Ps I will be having a set of springs , just waiting for some F***tards to pay for some dtuff they bought a week ago , PM me a payment addy.

I had the back piece of sill cut and replaced for the MOT I then filled it with waxol. I also filled the other side. I did notice that there are a row of removable grommets all along the top of the sills (you can feel them if you slide your fingers along the inside) these could be removed and waxol sprayed inside, although i think that a very warm day would be best.

ah sweet , that will save drilling holes :lol

Have posted previously on this subject, a member Rsaddo posted last year and daid he used Mk 3 fiesta sills. might be of interest, because as you are probably aware, no one makes sills for T2s.

you could also measure the lenth of cill and ask a metal fabricater to roll you a lenth of steel plate, then you can cut to lenth and form the edges, weld in place and then make the end plates. then paint or underseal. :thumb2

Hmmm custom made cills - suspect would cost more than the trucks are worth for a pair. They aren't straight runs thats the problem, they flare at either end.

ummmm, will have to check mine, when i was working for myself i did alot of restoring / mot welding so, and i don't mind a challenge, if mine are suspect, i'll see if i can make them. if not it will be plate up job.

Was'nt it posted on here that a MK3 Fiesta 3 door sill would fit:confused::confused:

Yeah - about 4 posts up. But yes also some momths back Neil. I'm not sure about fit, but can be adapted is probably nearer the money.

I've found that my sills used to fill with water, after jetwashing etc. To cure this, I drilled a 4mm hole at the rear and bottom of each sill. Problem solved. I had the interior out of mine when I first bought it, (smelt like a farm yard). The sills, boot floor, arches etc are solid. Must be one of the better ones.

FYI.

The rear part of the sill is available (sills are in 2 parts)

LH £40.02 PN.764190X830

Ok ''patch job'' done , need to move on to the long list of other jobs.
