Hi all, just a quick question. My terrano never really seems to get hot on the temp guage, goes upto about a quarter ten that's it. Also I think the heater could be better. Any ideas?

Mine was the same until I changed the stat too, changed mine for an 88 degree instead of the standard 82 degree. Temp gauge gets up to about half way now and it's toasty warm. I have to admit the 82 degree may well of sorted it out too.
Careful when you do the job though as a lot of people have either stripped the threads or even cracked the housing.

Thanks for that, Over the past year I've put a new water pump and rad on it so I really should have done the stat when I did either of them. I've her it's a bit of a pig of a job to do? (2.4 petrol). I've ordered a stat so I will fit that over the Xmas break

Think Solar man has messed with 2.4 Petrol's. I've only played with the 27 TDI. Ignore what I said about 88 degree version, stick with standard on a petrol.

not that bad to do, rad out, fan off, it is just under the steering pump, if you are more supple than me you might get away with removing the rad but there is always the risk of damage if you slip with a tool, Rick

Are we still talking thermostat here or water pump?

Na he has already done the water pump, thermostat, don't forget it is petrol, Rick

Just a quick update. Fitted the stat today found the one in there to be 76.5deg one! That will explain why it was always cold. Fitted the new one and it is spot on. And I managed to do it jut by removing the rad (left the fan in) thanks for your help :)

Glad it's sorted mate :) didn't realise they did a 76.5 degree one :s is that what it was stamped with? Who made it?

Wherever I've been for one they only stock 82 and 88 deg

Does your motor have a tow bar?

Yeah it does have a tow bar and it's a 2.4 petrol but I've owned it for a year now and never got round to sorting it, it was more annoying when it rained and I couldn't get the screen / windows demisted. It's spot on half now on the temp guage :)

Hi

I Replaced my thermostat and i also flushed out the heater matrix with a hose pipe and i was surprised how much crap was in there blocking it but now all is fine and hot just a suggestion in case i may be blocked:thumb2
