Hi guys can anyone help shed some light on a problem i seem to be experiencing please.

I seem to have developed a kind of rumble or vibration on my truck when the accelerator is pressed during driving....i will try and explain.

When i am driving along i get a kind of rumble or vibration similar to that you get if you are in too high a gear and not travelling quite fast enough. If i then let off the accelerator then the rumble stops.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.
Whats the best way to check it?

dive underneath and grab the shaft, check for any play at each end, look for rust marks at the 4 ends of the crucifix, Rick

wouldn't the noise carry on even with no gas peddle pressure? as they would still be turning!! i have a rumble on mine and its the zorst just aint got the cash for a new one yet but the symptoms are the same its only there when foot is on the gas

Na if you got square rollers in the UJ on one of the four bearings then it will only rumble under load, as it gets worse it will start to rumble more until it makes heavy vibrations, Rick

Rick is it feasible to do the UJ myself or does it need to be done by a pro?

if you have never done one before then I think you are best letting someone who has do the job, is is easy to mess it up if you are not aware of the pitfalls, and of course you will need a press of some kind, a large bench vice is all I use, but have you established that it is the problem? Rick

Hi rick, thanks for the reply.

I havent established that it is that yet, just looking at options...i have watched a few videos on youtube and seems easy enough, but where do i get the new parts from?

any motor factors, and if you are in any doubt about diagnosing then your best way is remove 4 bolts from diff end of shaft and drop it then you can feel real easy if either end is knotchy they should be real smooth in all directions with no play, Rick

Theres grease nipples on the prop ujs might be worth gunning in case ones dry

I fiited a new UJ to my rear prop, I got the new UJ from Millners and it came with a grease nipple.
I used the vice in my garage and got very helpful info from the tube of u:augie:augie

I've got some new UJ's in the shed somewhere
