Rough tick over

Hi guys does anyone have a clue what my little engine is up to now?
At tickover 800rpm its fine for a while then suddenly drops to about 300rpm and then usually stalls . Other times it picks up again and all is well for a while!
Its a 2.4 petrol and doesnt seem to make any difference hot or cold.

pete sounds like you fuel filter needs declogged or replaced or you have a trapped fuel line

Might also be worth checking that the metal fuel pipes which run underneath the vehicle haven't corroded. I had similar problems with rough running (although mine is a diesel), and it turned out that the metal fuel pipes were holed and drawing in air. They are particularly prone to rust where they pass up over the rear axle.

Thanks guys just spent the day fiddlin with maverick.............
The pipes are indeed rusted to bits! Typical they're between the chasis and body work at the back end. I guess the smelly wet petrol stain was a give away. So will change those when I lift up the body in next weekends session.
