How do guys, can anyone tell me how to get the roof rails off my maverick PLEASE :nenau
I can see an alen bolt but that only loosens the rail bit. How does the base come off? I seem to remember someone saying I donyt need to take the head lining off!

Take all the allen bolts out that you mention then the rails should lift off the reveal some mounting plates which will also need removing.

Nice one HB I'm on it now, just as soon as my fingers thaw out round this coffee mmmmmmmmmmmmmm :thumbs

Hi again HB I've taken the alen bolts out, but there's still no way I can get the rails off the base parts.
The rails are now loose but they fit all round the base so I cant see how they "lift" off!:nenau
Any ideas? Or did the old ones bolt through the roof?

roof rails

they are held on with wire loops on each end and a small grub screw on the centre foot which is on the inside of the rail.

the allen bolts for the ends are inside the rails behind a plastic grommet.
you will need a ball ended allen key to get at them as you have to poke it in the hole at an angle.

Do I need to get the actual rail off first to access this grub screw?
I cant see how to though! Alen bolts off but still cant get the rails off.

roof rails

if you look at the inside(not actually the inside but the side that you cant see when you look at the rail from the side of motor) of the rail at each end there is a small plastic rectangular grommet.poke this out with a screwdriver.then you need a 6mm(i think)ball ended allen key.poke the longest part of this in the hole towards the foot plate.you will have to wiggle it about to get it on the bolt.do this on each end of the rail.
on the inside of the rail where the centre foot is bolted on there is a small grub screw.once this is out the rail should lift up to reveal the wire loops which hold the rail to the feet.you just unhook these and the rail should come off.the feet are held on with 2 bolts on each one.

Cheers Elty, I'll be back on that job in the morning now. Froze my fingers out there today and got me a tad vext......grrrr:(

Once you've removed the rails, what are you left with on the roof ?

Lee.
