A roof tent isn't going to weigh much more than 50-60kg anyway, so no problems.

Yeh but I weight over 100.. And with a second person in the tent... It will be well over double the load :nenau

Whats the answer here? Sure ive seen it on a terrano before :nenau

Just get on the roof and stop moaning as I can't face any more scaffolding on your car :lol

That's not a problem, mate. The weight limit on the roof bars refers to a moving weight limit, the max weight for driving. The main issue is with cornering and all that weight up top is likely to tip you over.
The actual weight that the roof bars will support will be a lot higher (when the truck is stationary).
Hope this makes sense.

Yes Don is correct static v dynamic, but keep your dynamic movements to a minimum when up there with another,:naughty:sly:thumbs, Rick

Had way more than 55 kg on my roof I'm sure. It's still straight aswell.

Ahh cheers chappies, that has made a lot of sense :thumb2

I guess the weakest point would be mid way on the roof rail during a corner for example, if i was really worried I could add extra beef :naughty

Again, thanks for clearing up this stuff. So everyone is confident me and the other half could relax in the tent comfortably on the roof without fear of it all caving in.

The only problem the techs tell me at work is it will be the same height as a 3 story pent house and the air might be a bit thin up there :augie :lol

Take some boiled sweets up there for when your ears pop:lol

Instead of a roof tent (can see you getting up in middle of the night for the loo & falling off the roof of your truck:lol) you could remove the rear seat & build a full length sleeping platform with storage under it:thumbs

Eh?

As long as the roofbars have the correct support and all you're doing is relaxing, there shouldn't be any problem.
