I have the standard Nissan Terrano LWB roof rails, and would like a set of cross bars. Not the ugly monstrosities that have a huge clamp round the bars, and then the cross bar sits on top of that, but the sort like I used to have on my V70, where it actually looks like the cross bar is an integral part of the roof rails, sitting in the slot, and using a clamp of a thinish metal top and bottom of the rail to hold it in place.

I take it, that the slot on the inside of the rails of te T2 is for such a bar, but I can not find one that will fit, and as the rails are a bit thicker than my V70 ones, that cross bar won't fit, otherwise I would have modified that.

Anyone found any that fit and look smart?

Me too........I was vaguely interested in the ones that Banshee had available, but they are probably as horrid as the inexpensive, rusting ones I have currently fitted.....:nenau

So if you do manage to source any, please let me know.....:thumb2

The slot is there so you can unscrew a allen bolt to remove the rails

Will do.

I'm looking for something smart and as small as possible to fit my amber light onto, so I can remove and store in the boot when it is not in use. Currently it sits on the roof, but the roof rails hide its visibility from the sides surprisingly well, and as a lot of the road blocks require the car parked sideways across the road, that is a bit dodgy!!! currently, with it down between the roof rails, the car just fits under the 2m height barriers, but if I lift the light up, it will then hit, hence why it needs to be easily removable and stored.

I have some of the cheap Lidl aluminium bars that clip onto the existing roof rails, they don't rust, but are big ugly things, and as they stick out longer than the roof rails, they don't fit nicely across the boot.

I also have a set of genuine Nissan roof bars which are actually made by Thule, and fit by clipping over the roof edge, via the doors. This one nicely bridge over the roof rails, with about 5mm clearance, and have a proper roof rack that fixes onto them, but again, they are longer than the boot is wide, plus have huge feet, so again they are not really what I want.

Cheers, where is that allen bolt? Is it hidden behind a cover?
I have one at each end of the rails, but mine goes straight in, eg across the car rather than front to back, which is what I imagine you mean.

Do you know if the main part of the bar is hollow behind the slot, e.g., could I drill it and hide a Rivnut in the slot?

Thank you, but those all sit on top of the rood rails, rather than span between them.

Something like this...

Got a set of these on mine and Grandads, they are stamped Ford and came as an optional extra to go on the OEM Nissan Rails that come as standard, they are lockable and fair very well, very strong and look the part if you ask me :nenau
