I'm hoping I can get most of it back by selling the Shogun/Pajero roof bars too, so far all in I've done it for under £50

Roof Rails £15 - local scrappy, skoda felicia
Roof Bars - £5 - ebay listed as Renault Laguna, same as T2/Mav and Skoda
Rack/Baske -t £29 - Ebay, less whatever I get for the roof bars.

Taken me a while mind, I bought the roof rails in 2006 IIRC, bars about 6 months ago, but slowly slowly catchy bargain.

Thats the best way HB  I got my Thule roof bars off ebay for £26 inc p&p, New fitting kit £24 as the roof bars were off a civic type R  Metal to build roof rack £0 thanks to Cosmic

I should have went the cheapest way(Ebay!) but have this disease where i want to do it NOW!! :?
Got my roof bar kit from Halfrauds about £70 odd with the locking feet,6x6" Ring spots,4 on the front and one on the back for work light(not to blind the boy racers sweety!!!lol).
Got all the metal to make the rack from work so £0 there!!
Still got to wire all the light up though!!
They will be all working for the next lane outing though, especially the back one!!
Couldn't see a thing down in the Dales when i had to reverse the caravan into place!!

Looks great HB,now to get the Bobby Dazzlers on it!!,just wiring mine up today!!

HB, was it the estate version of the Skoda felicia that the bars came from?

Yes, just walked into scrapper looking for some with similar profile so they'd take similar cross bars etc was only one that seemed to fit the bill in that yard. TBH they are perhaps a bit too long or could do with being slighty further back as the front feet aren't sat perfectly as they are on the more curved part of the roof, but that nit picking rally, could of shortened em though. Knock roll pin out. Remove one end (or middle) Cut bars, redrill, put new roll pin in.

Have thought about it but one wouldn't fit my rack (i don't think) already got quite enough tents though, like to be able to go on a weekend away without having to pack everything up to go out for the day. They're great for an expedition type trip but not really what I need for a family holiday/weekend away.

Why you selling yours?

roof tents

True. We use it cos when get chance (money) we like to tour around rather than stay in one place. B&B one night, move on, then in the tent another night. Ideal really. You either hate the idea of a roof tent or cant use or sleep in one, or you think there the best thing since sliced bread. Each to his own. Suites me. I've got the front runner rack on mine. Its very adaptable. So far so good anyway. Quite light too.

hi,

i can see how looking a say the thule catalogue would define which other models used the same cross rails as you but can you be sure the longetudal rails will be the same, surely the shape of the original vehicle's roof and feet of rails could differ. and therefore the matches are based on how the cross bars lock on.

i would like some too for my lwb but still not sure if just non roof rail independent cross bars/rack will be easier. the draw back being that they will fix at roughly centre of front and rear doors and not cover 'boot' area unless combined with a 3door kit, any idea if such a combo is viable.

the terrano has a pretty flat roof and wouldnt mind a full length roof rack in style of say a discovery or even those classic volvo 240/740 estates.

anyone seen one like that, guessing with full length rails, well b pillar back could use more than 2 cross bars or a custom frame.

Just re-reading some posts and I've seen your query about clamp on bars, and whether combining a 3 door & 5 door kit would work. It should, if you used 3 cross rails, the front mounting on the two front door apertures, then the mid rail & the rear rail mounting as per a 3 door, with the mid rails clamping to the rear door aperture, and the rearmost rail using the 3 door kit.

If you are interested, once I've sourced some decent roof rails, I'll be selling a set of 3 door Thule clamp on bars - you can have first refusal if you want.

I am possitive that would work JonathanM as I have the same set up as you & it would let you fit a full length roof rack onto a LWB T2/Mav
