The issues if I remember right was the power going through the silly wiring at the rear, thus I believe the answer was LEDs only :nenau

Will wire them up independent through a relay if existing wiring isn't up to the job.

I will be fixing a work light to the roof that will also do for reversing.

there is that option.
I have got a pair of them little 55 watt lamps that I have never used.
did think about fitting one to each side of the roof rails but didnt want them sticking up waiting to clonked by a tree.
might just mount them through the roof with rivnuts.

You can get "Blind Rivnuts", which have the ends sealed, so don't let water in, even if there are no bolts in there. I used those to fit my lights, which means I can remove the lights if I want to, and only have 4 silver studs in the roof.

Rivnuts - what a wonderful option to mount on bodywork. I must confess that I had no idea that they existed

A quick Google and Youtube and I now know about them :clap

Do you guys use the notched rivnuts or the splined rivnuts? If notched, where does the tool come from?

You don't have to use LED lights you just use the standard reverse wiring as a switch feed to a relay & run a power feed wire from the battery to the relay like you would when wiring in a set of spot lights for the front:augie

we use many types of rivnuts at work so I can have a root through the stores and see what we have got.been using them for years on various projects.

I was introduced to them when I fitted my light bar.they are brill.
There was no need to remove the roof lining to fit the rail.
I put sum tiger seal around them to doubly make sure they did not leak.
