Lets just get out terminology right here cos I think Tonup means roof rails, i.e. the front to back things.

Roof bars are the things that either go between the rails (and don't carry much load) or, like the Thule version, fit stand-alone and clamp on to the edges of the roof.

They are as sturdy as hell; you won't shift them once they are on, and I have carried some ridiculously heavy loads on my old set with no problem.

I have a roofbox and a newer set of bars with tray that I'm thinking of selling; i'll stick some piccies up shortly...

Bars are lockable, roofrack tray is removable, roofbox is 375 litres, lockable, opens/tilts either side, quick fix mount. This lot cost over £500 new.

Sensible offers might be entertained.

I'm wanting to fit rails onto my 94 lwb. I hav got rails but there from my swb. Thought about putting them on my lwb but they will probably look too small:doh

My T2 has fitted roof bars and they have Nissan in large letters and Thule in small letters. The maximum weight for them is a paltry 55kg though.

I don't know if they were an extra option or fitted as standard to the 'sport' models. Quite frankly I can't see any difference with the other models though!

Alan

I think they were optional

Thats why I've never had them, the Thule roofbars on the other hand can carry a serious load because the weight is taken right at the edge of the roof where its strongest.......:augie
