A few weeks back, I went to pick up a second hand huge roof box, and when I arrived, I discovered that the fixings were too narrow to fit onto my Aerodynamic roof bars. The guy who was selling it, and I managed to fold all the seats down, and feed it into the car, where it fitted with mm's to spare. At one point, it seemed to get stuck, and he gave it a pull, where by it freed it's self and slid into place.
When I got home, I discovered that the mounting bracket had gone through the rear seat material, and then ripped up it when it had appeared to free it's self, leaving me with a 2 x 3 inch "L" shaped rip.
I remembered someone else had done something similar, but could not find the thread, of how they fixed it, so I decided that as we travel a lot with the rear seats down, I would cover the back of the seats in chequer plate.
Quite pleased with the results, only thing I need to do is get some more of the edging for the O/S one, as I ran out, but overall I think it looks pretty professional.
