how much of a difference would 17mm make on the Vehicle posture . I took the measurements like the workshop manual tell you on section fa32 and fa 39 and as far as I can make out mine are 15mm where it say it should be 32mm .

I after someone to tell me if that would cause the knocking noise when going over rough road and the notchyness when turning slow

Knocking on a rough road could be any of the bushes/joints on the suspension but the front anti roll bar drop links are very prone to failure and can be quite noisy.

Cheap fix though... :thumb2

As zippy said the steering lock stops clunk on full lock if not greased.

Not measured mine yet but I know it's low & one thing i've noticed is the front ARB is very close to the bottom arms so it could poss be catching slightly. I would guess lifting it from where it is now to the factory setting you'll prob gain an inch easy under your arches

I have already done the upper and lower ball joints arb bushes drop links and trackrods on bothside and checked the wheel bearings and they are fine

Ride ht won't be the cause of your issues.
Are these the issues you were on about the other day ? Have you checked top arm bushes and comp rod bushes ?

Might be barking up the wrong tree here, but notchiness is normally Prop shafts, or possibly CV joints at the front.

Check your exhaust system, it runs pretty close to the body/chassis/engine in a few places, and it does not need to be far out to make a lot of noise when it hits. On mine one of the hangers had snapped, but it was not immediately obvious when you looked. It cased the exhaust to hit both the gearbox, and the back axle....

yeah I had to let a garage do it because my jack has twisted . and he came back saying the comp rod bushes are cracked but fine and the top arm was ok .that's why I checked the ride height and it riding low

Low ride ht won't be the issue. So we're back to what we said last time, ie CVs etc Auto hubs turning the drive shaft?

They're the usual candidates to be fair. So what else ? Hmmm did you put too much grease in when you put them back together ?
As I said before, undo the hubs just to eliminate them from your search.
If the noise continues then poss CV
Drive shafts are easy enough but they are fiddly depending on how far you want to follow the manual:naughty
I can get mine out with just one ball joint off, but fiddly.

and this one . but I'm worried about the shims because it look covered in rust and when I take them off it would mess up the camber . I tried Nissan and they said there are loads of different shims

to me that comp rod bush looks knackered . but my local said its fine

Looks mean diddly sorry mate. You'll have to jack it up and give it a heave ho and see what gives or not
As for shims, who knows till you take the top arm off, but that's only if you have camber'castor issues. You said the bushes were ok
Have you undone the hubs yet ?

yeah I tried that the other day and it still happened . that why I thought I would check the ride height . because people say if I done a torsion lift and went to high it would cause damage . and it looks low too. it only 4-5cm between tyre and wheel arch with standard tyres on 235/70/16

Does the noise go away in 4x4 ?

no it doesn't make a difference . the noise doesn't happen all the time the notchyness only happen when turning very slowly as in reversing out and driving in to parking spaces . the knocking only happens over rough ( potholes in farm road ) and when the weight transfers off the drives front wheel
