Reversing light

Hi All,

Having recently reversed into my shed due to the utter uselessness of the standard reversing lamp, I was wondering if anyone else finds it as useless as I have?

I've a couple of flush-fitting high-output LCD on order to wire into the reverse-lamp circuit. Has anyone got any other suggestions? :nenau

Reversing sensors, I fitted a pair to my rear bumper and I have never reversed into my shed.

Mind you, that would be very difficult as it's around the back of the house.:augie

More light would be better, but they would get quite grubby with road filth.

When I got my truck, it had an after market reversing light screwed on the bottom of the rear bumper, I think it looked awful and removed ASAP. I just reverse slowly with my hazards on and I find I can see behind me OK

The reversing lamp is rather useless as there is only one, but when funds allow i'm planing on getting a LHD left side light cluster so can have 2 fog lights, fitting the rear number plate to the rear door the fitting 2 LED reverse lights plus tow bar sockets where the number plate go's:thumbs

Mine had a couple of 35W aftermarket fog lights on the tow bar when I bought it which didn't work.
Took them off. A year later I've ended up using the existing wiring and fitting a couple of replacements which cost about a tenner off ebay.
With the additional 70W of rear white light at a low down position, it makes reversing a cinch in the dark,

You could fit a high level spot light above the spare wheel like the Patrol guys do in oz. Im sure ive seen the bar that fixes to the spare wheel carrier on ebay.although you could make Then just fit a spot light and wire into reverse circuit with a switch so as not to blind people when in supermarket carparks

Thanks fellas! Some good ideas there. Never thought of putting on my hazards, for one.........

Once these LEDs arive I'll give them a rattle on & let you all know how I get on.

Run through a couple of relays and have it connected direct to the reverse light as well as a switch. Best of both worlds there, a switchable work light and also high level reverse light :thumbs

The standard light is pants.
I have got some reversing sensors just not got round to fitting them yet.

Will be easy to mount them onto the rear of the roof rails or a rack & you could run the wire off the roof & behind the rear door seal & in via the wiring boot for the rear door. I don't like adding extra holes if I can help it:lol

I reverse onto my drive which is up hill, so both my feet are busy, the fog lights an idea though

Those LEDs arrived today. Output from them is pretty good, so I reckon they'll make a huge difference. I also ordered a couple of those high-output LED bulbs, so the standard bulb will be replaced too. Hopefully no more reversing into stuff once they've been fitted
