when on idle and out of gear, i noticed my truck chugging a bit almost like i was revving it. with the needle bouncing from the 600rpm area to the 1000/1100rpm area. pretty much always after the engine has been at temperature for a little while, say after 30-40mins of running.

is this indicative of the crank position sensor?

I had a similar issue with my old terrano, but tried to fix it with an audi version from ebay costing maybe £5 or so, didnt fix the problem though. i know the nissan version is around £80 off the top of my head so might be worth it though.

thank you for any help you can give me :)

it could be, they fail as they get hot because of a fractured wire in the encapsulation as it cools it remakes better contact but will inevitably get worse, but may be worth taking it out and checking that there is no swarf on the magnet, is yours Bosch or Hitachi, Rick

im a hitachi setup.

also meant to put this under the terrano sections. im a dope.

It is on the timing cover then so easy to get to to clean, but cannot help with a replacement only have Bosch, Rick

its only really a different connection plug though isnt it from bosch to hitachi?

No they are very different the hitachi can be one bolt or two bolt, the diameter is different to the Bosch and the resistance is around 1500 ohms as opposed the Bosch which is around 800, Rick

Shadowbroker what year is yours, this sounds similar to an issue that ive had with mine for ages.

In both cases here, you need to be looking at your codes, if you get 55 then it is not your CPS as this will flag up if out of range, if so you will get 47,Rick

its a 2000 terrano 2.7tdi hitachi zexel setup.

what is the part number does anyone know? might bite the bullet and get a new unit from.....N I S S A N :(
