I have a manual fuel pump on my 2.7 TDi
It doesn't work. As I understand it, they signal comes from the crank sensor and the ECU then does the sums and sends the answer to the tacho.
I still have the CKs in place and wired in, as is the ecu . The only thing not in the loom is the old electronic pump and associated plugs.
It had been suggested previously that I may have a dry joint or something, I've looked and can't see anything . I've since fitted a new tacho (scrapper) same issue.
Any ideas guys, especially dummy based as I don't score well on electrickery :)

The tachometer signal is certainty provided by the ECU, however I am unsure whether it is derived from the CPS or number one injector lift sensor or both!
It is also possible due to the absence of control sleeve feedback from the original IP that the ECU determines that the engine is not running, hence zero RPM
On the mech IP engines the tachometer signal is taken from the AC output of the alternator ahead of the rectifier. It may be a less painful to look at this option rather than trying to fool the ECU it has a running motor!
Whether the later tachometer is compatible with AC from the alternator is yet another question, so a tach swap may be required...
Sorry I have raised more questions, but I am not entirely surprised that the ECU is not playing nicely.

Drop Timbo1975, (think that's his username) a PM, he's a member from Shropshire and has done this conversion and I'm sure I read that he'd got the Tacho working.

Have a search back through some of his posts in here, get you're hat on and hit the search button and wrestle it into submission. It'll be in here somewhere Pete
