Hi all I have just bought a 2005 X trail SVE petrol and was wondering if it possible to replace the SatNav with an Android Head unit or a Tablet? I.m not happy with the Factory Radio as it doesn't seem to pick up a signal very well and want to hold any stations when it does. was hoping someone has upgraded and can give me some advice as to what mu options are.

I would get the signal checked first !

I suspect that the radio reception problems are down to the aerial & possibly the signal amplifier being at fault.

Putting in a new head unit will not change this as it will be using the same signal. You know the saying rubbish input leads to rubbish output.

Not sure if yours has a side screen aerial or short one on the roof. If you have a conventional telescopic antenna its usually a poor earth due to galvanic corrosion.

Do you have a dashcam?

If so try disconnecting it, especially the cigarette lighter type charger.

See if that makes any difference.
