Replacing the fuel lines

Hi all,
Just lost clutch today, not the smoothest journey home! Turned out it was the clutch line that runs to the rear axel it just fell apaprt in my hand!!
Anyways i cut this back reflared banged the bleed point back on and job sorted.

Just wondering (as i saw the poor state of the fuel lines (and it was noted on the MOT)) about replacing the fuel lines, question is has any 1 replaced them for copper and if so how long have they lasted

Is copper a good long term replacement or is plastic the future?

I was thinking of going for 10mm flow and 8mm return are these sizes suitable?

I take it plastic for the clutch is a no no with it been hydrolic. Thinking of replacing all the clutch out too. i guess copper is the best replacement for this.

I'd read about doing away with it,
But im thinking whilst im under there covered in crap and fuel i might aswell replace the pipe from clutch to pedal.
Didn't look n see how bad if at all, them pipes looked, might not end up swapping em especially if i looks a pain in the bottom
 
I'll have ready made replacement flexible stainless steel over braided clutch and brake hose available in the next few weeks.

All being well will also have replacement plastic fuels line kits too - diesel only to start with - until I can get access to a petrol to measure up etc.
 
copper pipe will last the life time of the vehicle but plastic will too and its a lot easier to work with.
 
My fuel lines corroded last year, first sign was diesel on the floor and a closer inspection resulted in them simply rusting through.

I replaced them with standard plastic/rubber pipe; far easier and also wont rust again like the copper pipe.

did you replace the fuel lines right from the tank into the engine bay?

Did you use plastic or rubber type pipe work?

How did you secure the pipe work and to what?
