quite easy if you take your time

1:auto hubs off
2: 2 bolts on caliper take off
3: circlip off
4: wheel bearing locknut and bearings off
5: draw disc off rest simple after that

if you don't have the manual cd then click here for details on getting one. cd manual

To change the disc you will need to remove the 2 bolts securing the brake calliper and tie up the calliper out of the way, remove the auto hub the c clip on the half shaft along with the washers and the brake ring. Remove the 2 screws in the locking washer and remove the locking washer, undo the wheel bearing nut and remove the outer bearing, the disc and hub assembly will now pull off in your hands. Unbolt the disc from the hub and remove, you may find the disc tight to remove from the hub.
Rebuild in reverse order; do not over tighten the wheel bearing nut just nip it up enough to remove any play in the bearings.

Great discription, chaps :D

This needs to be a sticky

:D

How about taking a step by step photograph and a brief instruction then put it in workshop

If you need a hand in setting / writing it up give me a yell :D :D

Front Wheel Bearings

Hi Y'all,

Replaced front pads yesterday & noticed lots of play in wheel bearings = top to bottom and side to side, Followed instructions as to adjust but Rossco what do you mean by "do not over tighten the wheel bearing nut just nip it up enough to remove any play in the bearings "
Is there a guide to how tight "nip" is? Should I repack bearing with grease & what type?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere in a previous forum but I couldn't find one.

Kev

The grease you need is a good quality LM grease this is standard wheel bearing grease. When tightening the wheel bearings grab the top and bottom of the wheel and rock it to see how much play there is adjust the bearing nut until you can feel the smallest amount of free play (just detectable) and refit the lock nut. with the wheel on you should have a tiny amount of play in the bearings as they are tappered rollers. This way you will not overtighten the bearings.

Thankz Terranokid, did just that and it was easy peasy. Steering feels better too!
