I have a slight leak where my air pipe connects the intercooler outlet to the inlet manifold. I have tightened it up but suspect the pipe has perished somewhat inside.

The pipe is relatively straight so was wondering if I could replace it with an aftermarket Silicone type Hose has anyone here done such a thing?

I have not measured the the diameter but its around the 2" mark.

Try a 2 inch rubber coupling from your local plumbers merchant cheap and comes with SS worm drive clips, Rick

Decided today to see if I could obtain some i/d & o/d measurements before I went to plumbers merchants.

The hose had been disconnected by my local garage when they replaced the water pump & did some other work in January to cure a water & fuel leak.

As I undid the (Jubliee type) hose clip that I had previously tightened a tad in the hope of fixing the leak I had a surprise.

As the tension was released from the clip the pipe/hose moved quite a distance further onto the intercooler connection - I estimate by about 4-5 mm under the pressure from the hose that is about 18" ish long as it had been under compressive tension. So I tightened it up again in the new position.

I have cleaned off all the swarf to see if this has fixed the issue.

Ah plumbers one is only around 4 inches long, hope you have cured it, Rick

I guess your talking about something like the broken drain repair kits?

I used one on a broken sewer pipe where it came out of the house wall underground - that came with SS clips at each end.

Yes you are correct, they come in a large range of sizes, Rick

On my T2 I changed both the short pipes that linked the intercooler to Turbo and inlet manifold with red Silicon ones (I like red!) and they are still ok after 6 years ( just not so shiny red anymore), so if you do need to still change it, you should be fine.

Where did you buy them from can you remember?

I think it was from AutoPerformanceOnLine on Ebay. I got quite a few bits for the snorkel as well, and pretty sure it all came from them.
