Are they easy to remove, and can you get a cover, grommet to cover the holes up once removed :?:

They are genuine ford ones produced by Thule..

They'll leave threaded holes in the roof, so a grommet wouldn't really work, you could put some sort of dome headed bolt in with a rubber washer underneath - why do you want to remove them?

Well :!: :!:

Had a go today at removing em and :? don't understand how they fit

I removed all visible screws I could see on the rails and it became a little loose. undid part of the roof lining but the screws must be screwed in from the top as I could only see the threads showing..

So back to the rail and they won't slide, twist, lift :? But the top part must come off then unscrew the bottom part from the roof. Don't know what to use next Hammer or grinder

I think there is 3 bolts in each mounting pint (front, middle & back) :? I know a few members have fitted them in the past & shold be able to tell you the in's & out's

Have a look at the back of the rails, at each end there is an oblong grommet. Remove the gromet and get a ball ended alan key, sorry I haven't got the size. Poke the alan key towards the end of the bar and you will feel an alan bolt. This alan bolt tightens a loop of wire, the loop of wire hooks over a hook that is on the main mounting bracket at either end. This mounting bracket is bolted into some captive nut rivet things that fit through the roof skin.

Dam I took that grommet out but couldn't see owt

Makes sense now though, your a star "jims-terrano" many thanks

Was thinking of some stainless screws of some kind to fill the holes with rubber washers on like "hummingbird" said, that should keep the water out.

Just fitted my suzuki Jimny roofbars to the Terrano this evening.

I'd say if you remove yours you would sell them no problems, but any buyer of the car might then ask why - or even where they are, if they expected them to be part of the spec.

I'm in the market for some roof rails and just down the road 8)

I gave up-on the idea, because when I removed them the treaded inserts they left stuck out about 1-1.5mm and I couldn't find a way to fill/cover em without making it look worse. So left the rails on
