I sussed it out in the end
There is a black cap on the end that you have to get a flat head under the lip and prize it out, looks like it's not been removed in a long long time as both sides were seized solid :doh
Was going to do an AutoHub swap in place of the fixed hubs but I didn't have anything to extract the threads out :doh What can I use to do that?
Reason I had to new discs and pads swap was because I was on the way back from James' yard on Monday and strangely my brake pedal went straight to the floor and there was a funny clunk noise. Pumped the pedal again and I had brakes back :nenau
Got home and decided to investigate as by this time I had a grinding noise from one of the front wheels. I jacked the front up and spun the two wheels and it was evident that the passengers side was the issue as this was where the grinding noise was coming from.
It appears that I'd lost a brake pad!!!!!!!
It had worn that thin that it had fell out which explains the loss of pedal pressure, when pumped the pistons then extended further than usual and the pistons were actually making contact with the rear of the brake disk acting as a pad, miraculously the piston ends were undamaged and just needed a slight filing to remove some very small burs that had built up.
I've been very lucky in the fact that I 1. didn't crash and 2 haven't damaged the pistons :doh
It appears that one of the slider pins was seized solid and would not allow the carrier to move at all, drivers side pads were pretty much 3/4 left however the passengers were both down to the disc which is why it fell out :doh Weirdly though the car wasn't pulling to one side.
I've now serviced the slider pins on both sides, 150 grit followed by 200 grit, followed by very fine emery cloth then a generous helping of Copper Grease
Both side now operating as they should
May that be a lesson to you all!!! CHECK YOUR BRAKES
