refurbed wheels, new grill and some extra

hi guys,

as i was off today, i decided to spend some time on the ol mav and refurbed the wheels, sprayed the fog blanks and refurbed the rear badge.

i also a couple of days ago meshed the grill to tart it up abit and unleashed my tyre pen on the spare tyre. this is the result........................

heres how it looked before....

and now......

i think it looks a million times better. :thumb2

lol, sorry zip. no room in that sea of engine to get any decent shots.

clivvy, to be honest mate its as easy as you like really. just get some competetion mesh from halfords (or send me a fiver and ill cut some down for you and post it to you) if you have the same grill. ill nip out and take a pic for you if you want.............

Rather than redoing the badges i removed & polished :naughty
Grill looks good, ya could cut out your hard work on the bumper & remove the painted fake grills & replace with your boy racer mesh :sly
Reckon that would look good & be different :thumbs

yeah worth a shot i think. i want to get the bumpers coded at some point. im pleased with how it looks now but i really need new seats as they are plain disgusting. not started on the engine bay yet but i will be buying magnacore leads and some bosch plugs. im also going to try and get hold of a k and n filter.

nice job on the wheels mate i have to do some soon for a caravan i'm restoring and if they turn out half as good as yours i will be chuffed!

I wouldn't bother colour conding the bumpers the colour never seems to match and they soon look sccruffy if you scuff them.

im trying to get it ready for our wales trip in 3 weeks.

things that still need doing:

1. get tracking sorted
2. get some more oil in the rear diff
3. new sparks
4. new leads
5. new oil and filter
6. get seats valeted as they are grubbius maximus
7. 2 new tyres
8. new headlight on drivers side (courtesy of terranical)
9. set of mats
10. clay bar, polish and wax
11. spots for the nudge bar

and thats pretty much it.

oh and im going to be making a rear load cover out of leatherette, 2 pieces of dowel and a large vinyl ford badge.........watch this space lol

lol yeah thats fine. it wont be a spring back one though and will litterally be just a cover.

ive found the vinyl badges (ford) for the top and i just need to goto my fabric shop for the leatherette.

im going to draw a picture of what it should look like with measurments so people can happily copy the design if they want.

well, just been on the phone and booked the ol mav in for its £100 valet. the interior is in good condition but is uber dirty. the seats have suffered at the hands of 3 kids, 1 childminder (who evidently before getting in the car used to roll around in crap and then would sit down), 1 massive dinosaur sized dog, who i can only assume is completely bald now as pretty much every inch of the back is covered in hair and the carpets are ones that i believe must of been taken out and used as a rug to keep some farmers tractor warm in the shed in winter.

so hopefully after spending £100 on the interior it should look like new. cheaper than getting new seats and if it works, then ill defo reccomend them.

Make sure you get the right oil for the rear diff as the stuff I had from Halfrauds was the wrong stuff, even though it said on the front it was :doh
Probably best to drain off what's in there too as opposed to a top up :augie They're often filled with the wrong stuff

6. snowdonia
7. Portmeirion (im a prisoner fan and have been loads of times)
8. back home to kent.


my mrs has never been to wales and its my fave place to go. great roads, scenery and the locals aint bad neither lol.

horse shoe pass is a great place if not a little sad with what happened up there.

There are loads of lanes that a standard truck can do & receive no damage :thumb2
