I urgently need help regarding replacing the rear bump stops.

Nissan is unable to let me have 'authentic' part for my 1994 Pathfinder, but I can canabalise from another 4x4. However I need to know the height of the bumpstop for travel clearence.

Hello Pathfinder.

Why is it that Nissan are unable to give you the 'authentic' part for your 1994 Pathfinder, Is it because they dont stock it anymore?.

Looks like the hotmail address has worked ok, Does this mean its good old AOL playing up again?.

Regards,

Mav.

Isn't it true that manufacturers are only obliged to supply parts for a minimum of 10 years from the final production date.
When was the pathfinder last produced in that form?

Pathfinder

Iam not sure, but I think 1996! Blast it...! HOwever have managed to cannablise another 4x4 and weld the bump stops on to mine, having ground them down to what looks like the correct length!

I will post as to whether it has worked or not after I get back from holiday and will, by then, know.

R3mR bumpstops

Mine broke off but were retained inside the rear coil springs.

I cleaned up the surfaces and glued them back on with Tiger Seal.

Still OK a year or so later !

Not sure about the Pathfinder (I assume its a WD21 chassis) but on the Terrano 2 the bump stops are also spring assistors so if your's are the same you probably need to fit the same ones.

I've just checked the parts catalogue and though it looks pretty similar the part numbers are not the same as those for the Terrano 2 - they're probably as good a match as you're likely to find though, fitting any old bump stop at the same height as standard might gie a rough ride, the T2 touces its bump stops very early in the suspension travel but there is an awful lot of compression aailable in them - te WD21 ones look to be of a very similar design.

Just as aside, I've not got any rear bump stops/assisters.
I left them off for more articulation and with the 2" lift springs I've got there seems to be no issue:augie
Is there any advantage in me refitting some?

For offroading etc I'd say not (done the same at times myself) but if carrying loads or towing etc then retaining them is not a bad idea but with a 2" lift you'd need to space them off 2" to get any real benefit.
