So in my haste to remove the windows to fit the commercial boards before it all went pearshaped I just ripped the hinged seal from the car as I had believed it to be "riveted" somehow to the body.
Since taking hold of myself and giving myself a stern telling off I've since read the workshop manual and realised that they are actually bolted to the body with what looks like a 10mm nut on a really long thin bar about as long as my index finger which makes getting on top of it with an extension socket impossible and there is very limited room to get in with a spanner either :doh
What you see in the pic I took below is the ONLY access you have to that nut, so they got it on like that in the factory so how the hell do you get it out?
Just to make it clearer for people who might not understand what I'm talking about here's the part I'm trying to get at
