folks, '96 mistral rear indicators stopped working today. side and front indicators continue to work, but rears dont. the fronts do however work at double speed. all other rears work - side lights, brake, reverse, and fog, so i guess the earth is ok. if i replace the indicator bulb with a current tester, i get nothing unless i earth it to the rear tow bar array.

tow bar was fitted 6 months ago and no probs since. is there a "rear indicator relay"? where is it? or could this be caused by the fitting of the towbar electrics gone bad?

any help would be gratefully appreciated

From what you have said I think you will have a brake in the earth wire for the indicator, you'll prob have to take the whole light unit out & check all the wires & give the light unit a good clean up as it could also be just a bad contact:augie

appreciate your thoughts, will take a look. why would this not affect all the other rear lights tho, if they all share a common earth?

id guess is they dont share a common earth then

Wasn't there someone who had to replace his rear wiring because of corrosion?

They may well share a common earth but at some point the earth will split to each lamp so that may be the location of your problems.

check the connection plug in rear lamps for bad connections

Thanks guys. Totally cleaned, and WD'd all connections. Replaced bulbs. Now the n/indicators are working fine, but no joy with the o/side. The front and side are flashing double time, but nothing from the back. I'm getting desperate as we're supposed to be taking the van away next weekend.
Waja fink??

add another earth wire.. to the light thats not working.

maybe so, but worth a try

try swoping the cluster from the othere side, if it works then, well you just need a new cluster from some place
