Hi,
Just got back from MOT, rear fog light not working, the light on dash comes on & they tell me the bulb is OK:eek:
So is there a relay? if so where?
A known problem?
Which end should I start tracing from? so far I have not looked into it, plan to start looking Sat AM:eek:
:bow:bow:bow

have a fiddle with the bulb holders, ther get water and dirt thrown at them from the back wheels..

I agree with zippy, check at the light first, clean it all up and then check if you have a 12v supply at the bulb (and a good earth)!

Wow that was fast, thanks guys I will let you know how I do tomorrow.:clap:clap

Rear fog lamp woes

I agree with everyone else its usually water in the lamp. My last lamp lasted one year before it filled with water again and rotted out. It blew the fuse as well. On mine the switch still lit up with the fuse blown?

I purchased an identical one on e-bay and took some time not just to fit the wiring loom grommet but also gave it some serious silicon sealant from inside and out with a drain hole at the bottom of the casing as well to stop the build up.

Curiously the old lamp and the new lamp had no sealing gasket!

Update, remembered in the small hours the guy who wired it said something about the fog lamp, spoke to the shop, guy said it must be wired wrong, so its back to Upminster next week. :doh
I'm a bit pissed off by that, I would have thought they would have checked it, goonna go for my money back, MOT station charged me for 15 mins trying to fix it.
So I take back all the praise I heaped on Tow-rite of Upminster

Thanks for your input:clap

Problem fixed:clap:clap
The fault was in the trailer socket, the one I have has a switch to turn off the fog light on the vehicle if a plug was inserted, this was making bad contact:doh, application of a little brute force bent one contact & now it works fine.
I spoke to the MOT station, never heard of that before they said:doh

Thanks to Google problem solved:clap

I also phoned Tow-Rite to say sorry guys it was not down to you, just looked that way
