My T2 eats the rear exhaust mount...

I have just failed the MOT, as between last checking it, and taking the car for the MOT, the rubber has snapped again... This one is less than 6 months old...

Does anyone else have any issues with this mount? has anyone upgraded it to a better one?

I did one of no e few weeks ago, I keep one as spare

I've seen some with a metal loop around them but not found to buy yet.

You can always use some stainless steel builder's band from Screwfix, or Tool station, this link from Screwfix, is the galvanised version, but S/S version not that more.
On the Picasso, the original steel band on the silencer had nearly rotted through, so a band of this around it, a few pop rivets, it passed 3 MOT's before we got rid of the car.:thumb2
Handy to keep a length in the car for such situations, to sit along the wire coat hanger lol....

On one car, we had a loose catch wire, not touching the exhaust, but would save the exhaust when the support bracket broke.

Cheers, Guys.

Ironically I normally have a spare, but as I say, I used it not that long ago, and forgot to get a new one...

I have some galvanised stuff like that Rustic, only worry is, will it transmit vibration back into the car?

I was looking at the straps they do for custom cars, and wondered if I could put a couple of these on it, so if one snapped, I would hopefully notice it before the second one snapped...

I will put the proper thing back on for the re-test, but I must make a point of sorting it out once and for all, even if it means fabricating something a bit more substantial.

That's what I would do, I had a similar problem with a Peugeot 407 hdi and I managed to put a mount on opposite side as well to help spread the load.
