chaps, this is really annoying the hell out of me now!! My leaking rear door simply wont be fixed! Ive done all the re sealing imaginable, and water is still, somehow, getting in via the lower left area as you look at it. It gets in over the frame as far as I can tell, hits the carpet and soaks through. I've even tried laying thick rubber in between the door and frame, and this helps a little but last night water still got through, though much less.

Is it not possible to get some universal rubber to make my own seal? I cant see the benefit in buying a used door seal, and I don't know where to buy new ones from (I daren't ask Nissan).

Has anyone got any more tips for a solution to this? :bow

Maybe it is time to ask nissan. Some things aren't meant to be done on the cheap.. (Sorry to say chaps) :lol

Unless you can get a very good second hand seal, still no guarantee :nenau

I have some neoprene seal from work that am going to use to try and stop mine leaking.

a guy up the road from me bought one for his 3.0L
he said it was £178

i pulled my rubber seals completely off and filled the groove where it fits on the car with gutter sealer as it never sets hard ao there is still flexabuilaty in the seal and stuck it back on makeing sure that it was on bloody good. iv never had a problem since :thumbs.

I have found that the place it leaks is the ends of the rubber seal on the body not the door, as it is by this time already on the inside of the seal on the door, all you need is some none setting mastic about 3 inches on each end, stick the seal to the body, just done two of mine, sorted, Rick

My mates was leaking in, I asked him if he'd checked the seals and he said the were perfect.

I took his word for it and we looked for problems elsewhere. When all of our efforts were exhausted, I went back to the door seals and when I touched them or put any pressure on them at all the flexed and had massive splits in them and perishing that wasn't visible when the door was open.

Popper to the scrap yard, 1 2nd hand seal later and £3 lighter and he had a water tight car again :thumb2

to stop mine I took the rubber off the body cleaned the rubber off and the body then put some sealant and put the seal back . plus I found on the top of the door the seal is suppose to sit in the door in a channel only along the top of the door and just on the top corners . the only way I found this was to stand in the boot and looking down on the door . somebody tried to fix the leak before with sealant so I cleaned that all out and reseated the seal back in the channel . plus I adjusted the door catch so it pulls in tighter . and mine has been bone dry since. before that mine was wet all the way back to the rear seats while they where up . if that don't work you could try and thread 6mm tubing threw your seal to give it more of a tighter seal

this morning I did a test, I think someone mentioned this. I took a long piece of paper, and placed it between the door/frame and closed the door. just above the light, I could pull the paper out. As far as I can see (because I used some chalky stuff to trace the water) its re-diverting there over the rubber seal and into the car!

I either need a new door seal, or to stuff it with some tubing - can anyone recommend the correct size/type of tubing to try??

which side light ? . because if its the catch side you can adjust it . I have heard someone on here say you can adjust the hinge side as well but I didn't need too because I have stopped mine from leaking . you can use this stuff http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PVC-Tube-...ies_Fish&var=450223978557&hash=item233213e42e . I would use 4mm inner diameter . I tried 6mm and it kept pushing the seal out the top of the door

its the hinge side, left side as you look at the rear door. Ive already adjusted the catch, so it may be worth me trying the tubing - doesn't look like there is any further adjustment at the hinge :thumbs

that's where mine looked like it was leaking . but it was coming in from along the top of the door . my guess is it was running down behind the seal . so once I climb up and looked down on it I saw the seal was out off the channel along the top of the door . now I have reseated it it hasn't leaked once . have you clean the seal that's on the body aswell ?

yeah I have had the body seal off completely and sealed it. I haven't look down from above though, so I will try that to see if its a similar issue as you

I eventually solved mine by removing the carpet and underlay, sit in the boot facing towards the back window and make yourself comfortable. Get someone with a hosepipe to go round all round the gap between the door and frame and this will soon show where the leak is.

I found the water tracks inside the trim that runs from the top of the frame down to the black plastic tread plate at the bottom of the boot. It was trickling in like a small stream

good idea, I will do that this weekend!:bow

I packed under the seal with caravan mastic, strip rather than using a gun. Worked on my old 2.7 Tdi for over 7 years, probably still works wherever she is now.

Zippy765 should be able to help, He is a Caravan Engineer.

That's the stuff :clap:thumbs
