Did the 93-98 Maverick ever have disc brakes on the back ? The reason I ask is because there are several calipers and caliper rebuild kits advertised on Ebay for the rear of my vehicle, and I wondered how difficult it would be to fit disc brake to the rear of it.

The manual and parts list only shows drum rear brakes.:nenau

i think extream and makeitfit were working on disc for the back...

I don't think they produced enough rear discs for ebay to source the replacement parts yet.....:augie:augie

No is the simple answer, BUT, we did look into it and there's a couple of ways to do it.:sly
The easiest way was looking like transplanting the back axle off a Pajero, the one with a locking diff seemed the best benefit of doing it. It has discs and handbrake shoes in the drum part of the disc, so kind of straight forward there. You'll need to modify the rear brake compensator to apply a bit more bias at the back. The axle itself will need the spring seat off the T2 welding on and some other tweeks to take the T2 trailing arms and top links. Nothing a day with a grinder and welder wouldn't sort :sly
At that point we decided rear drums were fine :lol
Just remembered, you could just fit the drum/discs on to the T2 axle and have some caliper carrier brackets made up to fit.:0

and it is that simple... well more simple in fact. the whole shogun kits fits straight on caliper brackets too ... but again whats the point

if i was setting something up for competition maybe cos you could have adjustable and single wheel braking . but really little point the steering breaks long before you need better brakes . id look into the steering fix fully though. thats got legs and well worth a few quid thrown at it

Good point Colin, my super strong steering set up seems to be holding on in there :naughty
How's your new truck? Still need some spares :augie
