Rear bumper side exit exhaust

Hola fella's

As ive got a free weekend I fancy moving my exhaust so it exits from the side of the rear bumper as others have done saves the tin tent from getting soot all over the front plus it looks cool .

I know a few others have done this and was wondering if anyone has a snap of how they have done it so I know what bends to get, I was thinking a 90 and maybe a 65 plus an outward roll tip. Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Cheers for that abrupt answer, Maybe i should have mentioned I have spent the last 5 days searching and have found posts from years ago, There is loads of photos but no one has taken a pic of behind the rear bumper.

The only person I know on here who has done it, is makeitfit, but if I remember correctly his comes out in front of the rear wheel, and requires pretty extensive mods to the car to do this, including a body lift and the truck to be a short wheel Base.

I would be concerned of putting hard bends at the end of the exhaust, as they will increase the back pressure, so keep it to a gentle curve, rather than a 90 degree bend.

Not sure, I don't remember seeing it... Alex sort of did it, but I would not recommend his route!!! Like Luke says, there is a lack of info on "How" to actually do it on here.

Personally, I just put a chrome finishing down pointed end on mine to protect the caravan, but that caused the end of the exhaust to rust and drop off, so now I just clean the front corner of the caravan with a bit of MER polish after a tow..:lol

I think the problem with side exit on the LWB is, it's the bit that goes over the rear axle that is a pain, so ideally, you want to do away with that bit, but that then means you ideally want to come out in front of the rear wheels which is not practical.

Cheers for the help guys, As lazy-ferret said a few people have done it. Makeitfits seems the best but as mine is a lwb its not practical. Ive ordered 2m of 2.5 in pipe and am going to see if I can replicate the original exhaust minus the centre box of course and take some pics so it may be of future help.

Thought so. :augie I also remember a "No smoke no poke" ring around the end to finish. Not sure of it was mad Mark though. :thumb2

If it's any help my Trol's exhaust ends just in front of the rear axle with a 45° angle facing partly out to the passenger side and partly down (no silencers).

Hardest bit is modding some sort of hanger bracket for the straight through pipe.

Well done for finding that Rustic, I had somehow missed reading that post.

Do watch the heat if you finish the exhaust under the car, rather than outside of it, on my T2, when the end section fell off at the join over the axle, I was not too worried about rushing to fix it, as it did not sound that much louder, but when I went to lift the rear carpet to sort out something else, I found the sound deadening tar sheet stuff on the floor of the boot had melted and the carpet had stuck to it. Not only that but the acoustic foam I also had under there had gone hard, crushed flat, and was black, like it had actually tried to catch fire as well directly over where the end of the exhaust finished. A lot of heat comes out the end of that exhaust.

Hahaha thought you would... I need some more tube which I will pick up tommorow. Im only doing it in mild steel for now but if it all goes swimmingly I will remake in stainless at some point.
