OK, this is a hypothetical question at the moment, as I do need to do a bit more digging...

The WD21 Terrano has rear Disk Brakes, with tiny drum brakes for the handbrake in the centre... My T2, has just rear drums... On the T1, the brake back plate on the nearside is in a very bad way, and I am pretty sure it will not pass the MOT as there are huge parts of it missing. I have looked online, and I can not find the back plate for sale anywhere, and while looking into it, even if I could, it sounds like it is not very easy to swap it over.

So, would it be possible, to swap the rear axle over to a T2 axle, and if it is, what would I need to look out for, e.g. ratios, the T1 is an auto, so would I need to get another auto axle? How do I even find out what the ratios are? Apart from possible having to play with the handbrake cable linkages, what else could cause me issues?

Anyone got any ideas?

Are you meaning the metal cover that extends up over part of the disc?

My Shogun had big chunks of both rear ones missing (they weren't particularly thick metal) and it was never mentioned at MOT time so if that's what you're meaning I wouldn't worry :thumb2

lots of potential issues, mounting points, overall width, etc. Drive shaft length and compatibility, plus the front axel ratio? I'm no expert but it sound a bit of a job! you might be better getting the rotten plate off and trying to fabricate one or see if something else will fit?

Yes, Thanks, I have not got as far as looking at the actual handbrake part of the back plate, but the bit at the bottom that is supposed to cover the disk rotor, is beyond redemption.

That's what I was afraid of... I was kind of hoping that both being Terrano's there would be lots of similarities, which is already sort of thrown out the window by the fact that one had drums, and one has disks...:doh
