The bore measures 62mm but the job is too hot to hold so will need to fine bore it when it is cold

Oil seal will not like this so will need to splash a bit of weld on it and turn it down smooth but job for tomorrow, Rick

Join the Q, been given two more over the week end, but looks like I will have to make a press bigger than the 6 tonne I have now as I cannot budge the trunions even with heat, Rick

Found a 50 tonne bottle jack at a reasonable price so think I will go for that and make a heavy duty frame, I will not be beaten, Rick

Will not be doing any of the latest rollers for two reasons, 1 they are over 100 mm and so will not fit my lathe, 2 new complete £95 so not worth the effort, but I will still make the 50 tonne press as it is needed fr other things, will post the pics on this thread when I make it, Rick

For £95 it is not worth your time Rick. I am sure thatyou can use your time to build something else. Like that 50 tonne press, looking forward to it. :thumb2

It is on my shopping list but I might just nick your design :D:D

50 Tonne Press

So as it was so hot outside today retreated into the workshop, much cooler there, this is the 50 Tonne Jack

A bit of 10mm plate hiding in the corner will make the top and bottom

Nice work Rick

Thats looking good - often wish I had a lathe - plus the skill to use one.

Ted

Finished it off today, bit hurried as got to go Kings Lynn tomorrow to pick up another machine, it needs tidying up and a coat of paint as well as some stabilising bits to stop it rocking when pumping the handle, also some strong springs to push the piston back in, if I stand on it it does not retract
