after having a good look under my t2 there are quite a few bushes that need replacing.have done the front arb and droplinks, got a new rear arb kit to fit but i'm not sure where to start for the rest as they look like they are actually pressed on to the steering components, any pointers would be a great help :?

bushes

does anyone know what bushes i need to do all the front end (excluding arb)had a look at milners site but still not sure what i need and they are closed now untill monday.been trying to find a complete kit on the web but no luck yet.

bushes

after searching through some old post ive found a supplier for the poly bush kit.super pro eu.has anyone bought a complete front suspension kit :?: are they hard to fit,any bad points to look out for :?: and last of all how much do they cost :?: any help greatly appreciated.

No but I was planning to get some from Milners and do them in the next week or so - mine are bushed.

Have "super pro eu" got a website?

bushes

yes but it doesn't give you any prices.i did a search for poly bushes on here and found an old post by iandouglas from a couple of years ago.he had the same problem then as ive got now.pulling to the n/s.had the tracking done and its no better, but some of the bushes on the front look shot it.so i was going to do all the bushes then have it re-tracked.

Have looked at there catalogue and they don't do anymore than Milners - hadn't even thought about grade of poly as was just going to get m from milners and I don't think they give you an option. I'd be going for whatever they recommend for off road stuff as my truck isn't used everyday - in fact its not used every week.

bushes

spose it mainly comes down to cost for me.have always used milners for all my 4x4 parts.its only a 15 mins drive for me and you can normally get someone to look at your truck and tell you what you need.never had a problem with the bushes they supply.have allways replaced with poly ones from them on all my jap 4x4s in the past.

well if you get a price post it on here I'm interested in doing all of mine as well :)

bushes

hoping to have a run up on tuesday afternoon if im done at the hospital on time so will let you know.

They were out of stock on the upper wishbone bushes but told me they were expecting a delivery last week and should have had then in by friday, had to change my plans so I never rang them. Might be worth giving them a call before heading over.

bushes

thanks for the info, will ring them tommorrow to see if they have got them in stock yet.

bushes

have rang milners this morning.got all the bushes in the catalouge on stock.he's told me to go up and let him have a look at what i need to replace.then i will get a price and let you know what he says.

I went to Milners yesterday.

Bought the bottom rear wishbone/rod bushes and the upper wishbone bushes.

Rod bushes were poly, the upper ones were genuine Nissan rubber one. Plan is to fit em at the weekend so have sprayed all fixings in preparation.

All in cost about £95 for 6 bushes - ouch............

bushes

is that all 8O i need the steering idlers as well as the wishbone bushes so add on about another 70 quid.also ready for front shocks.best get som overtime done to pay for it all.

Take your old steering idler with you as me and a few others have been sold one that doesn't quite fit by milners, theres 3 bolt holes and they don't line up - I mentioned it to the guy who served me yesterday but he didn't really seem to care less. Someone else I know was sent the wrong UJ joint and again they didn't really acre - customer service is about as good as LA supertrux - but at least they're cheap where LA are a rip off too.

bushes

have read on this site that the holes need to be re drilled to suit on the ones from milners.just a shame you cant just change the bushes.

Thing is which hole do you redrill? you can get any 2 bolts in but not the third so which hole is in the wrong place - they really ought to be selling the correct part or at least saying how to wok around it

bushes

i used to powdercoat trevors chasis that he made for his comp racers so if i speak to him he might take some notice but i havn't seen him down there the last few times iv'e gone.will have to measure one up and do a drawing so i know the exact dimensions before i get the drill out.

I have fitted superpro urethane bushes in the the upper arm and at the back "radius arm" section of the lower arm.
Upper arm bushes require a brass mallet or press or similar to get them out - they can be stubborn.
The "radius arm" bushes were easy but I noted some corrosion and sediment in between the old ones. This may be getting in through the gaps where the bushing cup is spot welded to the main lug. Any water/dirt picked up by the tyre is thrown onto this area. The muck was cleaned out and the cup sealed around the top to limit further contamination of the new bushes. The gaps in the bottom were left unsealed so that any future moisture can drain.
A new idler arm bush was also fitted, which I think was also from superpro. The new idler bush was still pretty sloppy. All of this plus adjusting the steering box and adjusting the wheel bearings helped to get the T2 pointing a little better.

But the real problem was and still is the cr@p design of the draglink. The passenger side wheel will never track precisely with the current design unless you LOWER the front suspension to the point that the steering rods are parallel with the draglink. Even then the draglink is still free to pivot up and down slightly and create changes in toe geometry as the wheels hit irregularities.
