Have finally sorted the rattle in my rear door - I looked up the thread which mentioned broken spot welds, but that was not very specific about where to look, so I decided to blitz it!
Foind two spot welds behind the door card, immediately below the wiper motor right at the bottom of the door which were holes instead of welds. These welds hold an inner panel which contains the ferrules that the spare wheel bracket bolts to. This would explain why I didn't get the rattle if I took off the spare wheel (less weight).
Drilled out to 6mm, two M6 nuts, washers and bolts later, job done!
Can't remember who started the thread which pointed to faulty welds, but whoever you are, you're a star!!! :thumbs
