i would like to know if the ratios to the front and rear wheels are the same on the troll. i had left the motor in 4wd yesterday and when pulling in to the disabled bay at argos the front passengers wheel was spinning on tarmac (with lock on). i realy didnt like the feel of it but i thought i could leave the 4wd on full time if i wished. aparently not. i was told the front turn slightly faster than the rear and i will wind the front up and scrub the tyres..

if this is so will i be aswell getting a full time 4wd?

no idea mate, but i think the newer shoguns (2000 onwards) had full time 4wd (selectable), at least our works 4Work shogun did, so if your looking, may be worth checking Mitsubishi...isnt it somert to do with a centre diff to allow full time 4wd?

Check the diameter or better the circumference of each tyre. If they were identical and you were going in a straight line there wouldn't be wind up.

However, they carry different load, have different pressures, different tread depth, and if they are of different manufacture then they will never be equal.
So you will always get wind up. Ok on slipery surfaces though.

Having full time 4 wheel drive with a centre diff will be like having one wheel drive like any car, so you need to have some form of torque and traction control to help it.:nenau

A locking centre diff will help, then it becomes nearly as good as My Mav,:nenau

the y61 transmission is part time, rather like the terrano2.

however the rear axle has a locker, which is great in extreme
conditions, but not as good as the LSD in the r20s the rest of
time.

The front axle is brought into 4wd using the transfer lever from
2hi to 4hi, the front hubs are auto and manual, ie can lock them
even in 2wd to help lub the front end or to give you the certainty
of knowing that 4wd is only down to the lever movement, not
the auto hub mechanism as well.

The transmission is not full time, as said the mitzis and more
recent nissans liket the pathfinder have a 4wd on road option, but
on y61 and r20s it should not be used unless there is enough
ice or snow to allow a wheel to spin out if wind up occurs.
