random/temporary loss of power

I did take that grille thing out of my maf the other day, as i figured it wasn't needed as it creates more resistance, do you think that would have had a negative effect ?

A case if it aint broke don't fix it.

Engine running well.
Remove MAF, modify it, remove a grille that was designed for a reason.
Engine suddenly started to run rough,
I wonder what it can be?:doh

A bit like my engine is running fine, I decided to drain all the coolant.
It now overheats, what could it be?:doh:doh

mine was just due to the fact I'd pulled the grill thing out my maf
